Long Saturday Run at Okura  Bush Track

Bush runs happen every Saturday if there is no event on or otherwise stated.

This week we are taking a trip to my all time favourite bush run.

When:

·        You can either meet us at the club at 10am Saturday morning and we will car pool out.  Or you can meet us at Okura Bush Tack if you know where it is at 10.40am ready to run.

·        We will arrive back at the club between 12.30 and 1pm.

Where:

·        Okura Bush Track is in Okura on the very old highway to Silverdale.

What to bring:       Running gear

                                    Some warm clothes for afterward

                                    A towel

A water bottle there are no drink stops on this run

A small amount of money to get some lunch afterward

Description of the run:  This run starts with a 500m flat bush section then over the river bridge straight into a 2km climb through the bush.  The run then is undulating up and down for 4km.  At the end of the bush trail there is a very steep up hill stair case then down a very steep stair case onto the beach.  The beach is 500m long so it takes 30-40minutes to get to half way.  (There is an extra 25min we could add onto the run once we have done a few long bush runs)  At the end of the beach we turn around and come home the same way.

Total run distance 14-16km.  We will be cruising and the terrain is soft.  However there are over 500 stairs so get ready for a leg buster!!  After the run we will spend 5-10mins stretching then we will go to the local bakery for some lunch.

Parents and friends welcome

Note:  The area is known for thefts so please don’t bring any valuables and only a small amount of cash
